What survives a Chapter 7: Paravel's relaunch

A liquidation can end the operating company while the brand, IP, and domain remain sellable.

Paravel filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware on May 19, 2025. For a consumer brand, that filing is less a closing than a sorting: the operating company can end while the brand, its legal assets, and its customer relationships are separated and sold.

Paravel shut down its website, and customers reported that their not-yet-shipped orders had been cancelled. At that point, the company becomes a set of separable pieces: a name, a domain, a product line, a list of buyers, and a reputation that can outlive the payroll. The shutdown makes the ledger urgent, because access to files and records can disappear quickly.

Build the ledger before the website goes dark

Founders should build a liquidation survival ledger before the shutdown, not after. For each line, mark it as dies-with-company or transferable/sellable. The list is short, and the discipline is the point. The ledger should be a working document, not a record of what was lost.

  • Trademark or brand name
  • Domain
  • IP
  • Customer list
  • Inventory
  • Contracts
  • Team

Start with the trademark. Note whether the mark is registered, pending, or merely in use, and collect the documents that prove ownership: registration records, invoices, and assignment agreements. A buyer will want to know whether the name can be used without a lawsuit.

The domain is often the cheapest asset to move, but it is also the first thing a customer tries to reach. Check who controls the registrar, whether the domain is in the company's name, and whether it can be transferred. If the domain dies, the brand loses its front door.

IP requires a separate inventory of designs, software, content, and any proprietary tooling. Mark what is owned, what is licensed, and what was built by contractors. A product line can be rebuilt only if the buyer can use the underlying files without guessing.

The customer list is not automatically sellable. Note how the data was collected, what consent exists, and whether a new owner can lawfully contact the people on it. It is useful only if the next owner can use it without creating a privacy problem.

Inventory is the hardest line. Count what is sellable, what is damaged, and what is tied to a supplier. Contracts can be assigned, rejected, or become unusable. The team may not appear as an asset on a balance sheet, but it can carry the product knowledge that makes the brand worth buying.

The auction moves the assets to a new owner

Antler, owned by ATR Group, is relaunching Paravel after the brand's 2025 Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Antler acquired Paravel's intellectual property and assets in a liquidation auction in August 2025. The buyer's target was the parts that could be rebuilt, not the old operating company. The auction changed control, because the old company no longer decided how the name would be used. A bankrupt brand acquisition differs from buying a business: the buyer takes the pieces that survived the liquidation.

Antler confirmed the Paravel identity would be maintained and refreshed, with a comeback set for 2026. That confirmation changed the story from a shutdown into a brand relaunch. The name was no longer just a memory for former customers. The plan changed the obligation from preserving a logo to rebuilding a product line.

The relaunch reopens the purchase path

The relaunched Paravel products will retail between £30 and £465. The range tells a buyer what the relaunched brand is trying to be: accessible at the low end, premium at the high end, and broad enough to support a full collection. It also gives the new owner room to test which products can carry the brand forward, rather than forcing the name onto a single product.

The relaunched Paravel collection will be available for purchase beginning October 8, 2026, through Paravel's website. The purchase path is back, but the company behind it is not the one that filed. The ledger is what makes that possible.
